Summary by Rick Bingham
The title says it all!
If you are interested in finding ways you can have an impact on reducing the effects of global warming there at 80 solutions that are already being successfully used that you can choose from to start today. Edited by Paul Hawken, this book reviews a broad range of solutions from wind and solar power, food production and use, waste management, transportation, and building design to name a few. No matter what you are interested in you will find a solution that corresponds with your passion.
Each of the 80 solutions are ranked by how much they reduce carbon emissions so you will know how much you are contributing to reduce the effects of Co2. There are copies of the book available at the Environmental table after church services or you can go to your local book store or online retailer. Each of us can make a difference, even if it is making just on change. It may not seem like a lot, but multiple it by millions of people and it can have a big impact. The important thing is that you are doing something.
Here are links to the 80 ways (taken from the book Drawdown) we can stop global warming:
The “large scale fixes” are those that require collective efforts to implement. The “individual fixes” are things that individuals can do right now.
If you are interested in getting the book Drawdown for yourself, the Stewardship of the Earth Committee and UUCA bookstore have a number of copies for purchase. See us in the Fellowship Hall after the service!
